Thinking about lowering my C43
Folks,
What is your setup (springs and pads)?
Are you satisfied (pros and cons)?
Is anyone using Eibach Pro-Kit Springs?
Thanks in advance for your great input!!

Running the Brabus spring with #4 pads all around. Has about 1 figergap space between outside of fender top of tire. I love em,and progressive rate spring really keeps a stock ride quality at low speed over bumps. But tight around hard corners. 200.00 bucks straight from Brabus. Silver43 will second me on this one-MOE

Search function is your best friend. hehe
All mb cars are different in height because of the spring pads used.
Even if we had the same spring pads and set up, height will still be different.
Watch out not to lower too much or you'll have rear camber problems. Rear camer is not adjustable unless with some kit of some sort.

Depends what kind of driving you do. Mine is very low with H&R sport springs, I don't know what kind of pads. I wore out my brand new rear tires in 10k miles because of all the negative camber. I like the lowered feel on the highway, but it's harsh in the city and I won't put 4 people in the car.

Higher the thicker.
I'm riding Eibach with Bilstein. Very close to the stock ride of the stock AMG suspension. Lucky I got a set of custom adjustable camber arms from speedybenz. Now maybe i'll take the plunge and get a set of 18's next year without worrying about tire wear.

But #2 in front and #4 in rear, gives it a rake look

Thanks guys!
The reasons why I want to drop it are:
1- less bodyroll when cornering hard
2- Look
...but I dont want to loose too much confort with this mod and want to be able to carry my family without scratching the tires in the fenders... The road quality here sucks compare to FL or CA...
From the feedback you gave me, I will probably go for Brabus Springs with the pads required to make it the way I want.
I let you know the results!!

I think as long as you run #3 pads or higher with the Brabus spring and 18in wheel you should not have any rubbing issues. I have no rubbing or bottoming with 4 inside the ride.-MOE

#2 pads = bottoming out (stock on my C43)
#4 pads = no bottoming out (bought for $8 each)

steve s,
The brakes are by the Brakeman. They are a 1.25" thick rotor, 13.1 inches in diameter and the caliper is a 4 piston, forged piece that has a steel bridge and is very rigid.
It's the same setup they put on Viper and Corvette roadrace cars and its 18 lbs per side lighter.
About a grand less than a Brembo setup.
Jeff

Mine was already on #2 pads, and i think thats it? Are there #1's??? You need to use lowering springs to get the car lower.

ahopeter,
Ya, it's a little high right now as I have been playing with the cars roll centers to see how the different heights effect the body lean through the corners.
Lower ride hts. result in lower roll centers and don't seem to benefit the handling, but I do have some things I want to try to offset this suspension geometry issue.
