619 HP E55 Dyno Results
Three weeks ago I had the opportunity to drop a 2005 E55 off to the KleemannUSA team in Colorado Springs. When I picked her up on the 3rd day, we spent some time on the dyno and here are the results. The car is an absolute blast to drive. Stage 3 package includes Pulley, ECU, headers, camshafts and on a seperate note, we added the LSD. I HIGHLY encourage anyone who loves thier E55 to take the leap.

Great numbers. What's the difference between your 2nd and 3rd run? You gained almost 150 hp, incredible. I have everything you have minus the camshafts but only increased about 65 hp at the wheels. Have you made any tracks runs?

Damn--you ain't messin' around with your Ford. What the heck do you use it for--racing only? Please share more details. I'm headed to Kenny Brown here in Indianapolis for a 2nd/different dyno run next week.

All numbers from the Crank SAE. Don't know the RWHP as the Kleemann dyno adjusts for the crank. I'll try to find out. I was thinking that we projected 12% drivetrain loss but that is from my bad memory. I'll confirm and share.

Difference in runs were 2 things--different ECU configs and waiting a few minutes for the engine to cool down. Current ECU is the latest and greatest program of December 2004.

SVT---12 grand for the whole 9 yards. The car pulls like a big SOB from 80 mph to 160 and then only pulls like a regular SOB.

I thought that was SAE.. GEZ! I wonder what the SAE RWHP is and also how much the mods cost to do.
About the mustang, its my daily driver right now, drives completely stock. Right now the car is being tuned... 630rwhp SAE with only 17psi boost with no n20, only 15 timing and safe 11.0 a/f. Plans are to run 23psi and 125 shot n20. Its built for the highway as a lot of my friends have sc and tt vipers... etc etc
back to the thread, I dont want to hyjack the thread, pm me if you have any ?'s. Im real interested in the E55 though, that is DAMN impressive!!!!

I'm working with the Kleeman guys on an idea to take some of their cars around for regional track events--if it flies, you'll get a honest chance to zip around. You have to drive this crazy thing (or something like it). I'll zip over to the market every once and a while for a gallon of milk and arrive home laughing at the fun I had on the way there and back.

I love Kleemann products, but they should really be providing you with RWHP and RWT dynos. They know as well as anyone that a crank dyno is good for marketing but not very informative.

A bucket on wheels
simply emazing.
i've always dreamt of having an E55, taking away 2 exhaust tips to make it look like an e500 with a sports package and debadge it. Gt2's will really love it too :v

No external badges--looks like a stocker except for OZ Superlegerra III 19".
Hammer Down
Car is California legal
DerekFSU
I think it's 12% but I'll confirm
To ALL
Brandon, the owner of KleemannUSA shared with me that thier DYNO computes numbers for crank (that is the type of dyno they have). I'll find out the actual drive train loss used in the calculation and share asap. I suspect that it's more complicated than a straight percentage and more of a mixes (fixed + variable) factor (IMO).

Hammer,
Not sure. Here is the number of someone who would know: 719-210-1838
My local dealer had zero interest until his wife heard my exhaust and he (the dealer) drove it. We still joke about the wet spot he left in my driver's seat. Now his wife is getting mods, one SL65 guy is interested (big power from ECU tweak) and I'm working my buddy with a 2004 CL500 to get some work done. Amazing how the dealers are not interested until the customers start asking questions. The number above is for the guy who signs up Kleemann distributors (either tuning houses or MB dealers)--Brandon, and he would share with you where you would want to go. If saving $ is a factor, the Colorado Springs facility offers a 50% discount ON INSTALL when you take your car there. For me it was worth it b/cuz I skiied the Denver area with the money I saved, got to watch them take my car apart and hang around for the dyno runs, ask lots of questions and learn a lot plus I ended up with money in the bank. Good deal if you have the flex time.

Manufacturers use crank numbers so as a tuner it is more beneficial for us internally to think in terms of crank HP, esp when we have a dyno that very accurately measures PT losses. Additionally this method of measurement negates wheel variables like 54 lbs MonoBlok rims etc.

Real Cars
Very impressive #s. I wonder why Kleeman uses 12%. We typically figure 12%-15% for manual transmission cars with lightweight flywheels. I'd be very skeptical about this 12% figure... I'm better the loss is quite a bit greater. That would actually mean you are pumping out even more power. It also depends on the type of dyno.
You'll also notice the drop off of torque from 650ft/lbs to 490ft/lbs at redline still illustrates that:
1.) this power will be very inconsistent and
2.) these upgrades offer little to no help in the cooling department
3.) that a cooling system upgrade is still greatly needed to maximize the benefits from these upgrades
If you were able to keep the torque loss to only 100ft/lbs - basically trailing off to 550 ft/lbs at redline - you'd be making over 700hp. I actually am starting to think that with just a cooling system upgrade... done properly and thoroughly... our cars can make almost 600hp. The SLR does... and it runs just as much boost as we do. Biggest difference? Cooling system...
