Bye-Bye for my SL65

It was fun posting and chatting here in this board. The SL65 was such a joy to drive at high speed and twisties. It is so much fun with speed and power. Sad that I have to part with it as it doesnt suit my lifestyle. I am in my really early thirty's and I still want something loud and flashy like my Viper.......

I picked up a pearl Yellow 05 Gallardo yesterday. It has E-Gear so it is a different animal to drive as it still has a CLUTCH from same company that makes it for Ferrari. Ben Treynor is already hunting me and my Gallardo.

Ben and I lives around the same area or so. We are planning to do a video real soon against his SL65.

She is now in the dealer's lot but we have an arrangement that I can still send buyers to them as if I am selling it, like a consignment basis. So, if anyone is still interested, email me at megapixel888@hotmail.com

I will still occasionally lurk here but for now, the SL65 is a past chapter of my driving life

Very nice, best color combo I think for the Gallardo, did you by any chance get the 05 Navigation option as well ?

BTW, if your are looking for good exotic car boards, check out www.exotiXboard.com (treynor is a member) and lambo-power.com

Thanks! I didnt get that option as I have other choices for the NAV. The other options it has are Titanium rims, painted caliper(yes it is an option), heated seats, heated side mirror, pearl yellow, on board computer, E-Gear and the pearl yellow paing(a $1,150 option).

I am in Lambo-power

What is E-Gear? Is that a clutch and paddle shifting?

Amazing car. Sorry to hear about letting your SL65 go, but hell, I think I'd hit the Gallardo for sure without regrets. Congrats again and drive carefully.

Ya, nice to see you on lambo-power.com! Have you been able to try out front-lift option. Its pretty cool and saved my @$$ a few times with parking garages.
On piece of advice on lambo-power whats with that liscence plate!?! You should try and get that changed ASAP. And I like the comment about the "***** bait"

Gorgeous car, gorgeous color - and you're right, I'll be looking for you Perhaps a friendly GTG up at Sacramento Raceway is in order - I think people would go INSANE to see a video of lambo vs SL65. I'd give you about a 1-second head start, of course ...

Thumbs up Treynor, about how much faster Is your Car than a Gallardo?

Treynor, everyone knows ofcourse your Renntech SL 65 is much faster than a stock Gallardo, but what are your guesstimates for about how much faster you think your car will be than that Gallardo? From zero to 1 Mile down the road, how many car lengths ahead do you think you'll pull on a Gallardo? 5 ? 10?

And what kind of a difference do you think it would make in the race if the Gallardo had a few upgrades, such as upgraded intake/exhaust/chip/etc..?
Or what if someone dropped a supercharger on top of the Gallardo's V-10?

Hmmm.... interesting thoughts ... please post up the video of this race whenever possible ... we'd all love to see it ..... :p

P.S. --- Are you planning on doing any other performance-enhancing upgrades to your SL 65 besides what you've already done?

hmm

i would still take sl65 over gallardo.... you see i think the 65s are the only supercars that can be driven daily in traffic and all that.

thats what i think anyways! hehe i doubt there is like a 600 over hp car out there that can be driven daily except the benz 65s LOL.

Mash: You'd be surprised how civilized the Gallardo is in daily driving situations, I know I was. Though it’s a Lamborghini its a "tamed" bull intended for daily use. Can it run 11’s while massaging your back, no but it still is a daily supercar. Most don’t even consider the 65s to be supercars, they just have supercar horsepower. Its still 1000xs better for daily use than the 360, I infact know of a person who drives a yellow Gallardo in bumper to bumper I-4 traffic everyday.

The Gallardo with a dual supercharging kit would most likly blow the doors off a SL65 because of its hp to weight ratio. The Gallardo is very fast for a n/a car, but its also pretty heavy just like the Murcielago. I love the Gallardo, I can't wait for the Gallardo SV and updated Murcielago with a 6.5L V12.

NOTKTS, check out my site www.exotiXboard.com, you have some really exotic rides in your sig. Tell me what you think.

I dont think that they have supercharing kits for the Gallardo. I know they have the NoviTec kit for the 360 (660hp). But I have seen a twin turbo on the Gallardo that someone is building right now, they hope to have 700Hp

How much does routine service run on the Lambos? Stuff like oil changes, brakes etc... Any "special" services required?

Congrats on the Gallardo!

As far as service goes, 04's required a visit at 1,500 miles(general inspection and fluid changes-cost me about $250) then every 7,500. Thats it. The 1,500 mile service is not required on '05 models. The biggest problem on the Gallardo seems to be clutch life on the e-gear cars. Early '04 cars seem to have the most problems with stop and go driving and starts up hill eating the clutch up. Updates to the software seem to have helped quite a bit with the problem.

Agree that the replacement is flashy. You will miss that folding roof that allows the SL to become a convertible at will though.

When was this ? Did you click back in your browser or did you click the links on the forum for back to index and back to forum. I posted a screen shot of where those are. It should work both ways though back in browser and back in forum. It works both ways for me, let me know.

BTW, some news exoitXboard will be completly redesigned soon, so stay tuned, we are getting a huge increase in hits and bw usage. Close to the 4000 posts in 4 months thats not bad.

The Front lift is just amazing....Just wish it is like the SL65 that raises both the front and the rear.

LOL...as expected....the only thing that sucks is Sacto is so far away to drive back and forth to race. Let's do GTG somewhere here in the bay area and after the break-in period, we can go to Infineon....but I need to talk to Al Burtoni Racing first...to even the playing field

Of course, we can always do the street video anytime
