Talking CLK 55 4-pipe exhaust from AMG

Here's a first pic from the new CLK 55 (W 209) 4-pipe exhaust system from the AMG Manufaktur. It can be fitted only in Affalterbach for 2.450,00 Euro + 16% VAT. Installation is 560,00 Euro + taxes.

I'll have mine installed next month and will post more pictures + soundfiles then.

WOW Ronald, you have a CLK55 as well!, You lucky dodger!

Anyways, will there be a difference in sound, and are you planning to make any videos of the speedometer and RPM meter of this and your SL, taking it up to the limiter on the autobahn, p

ps, don't get yourself killed doing this, I could land in jail, and we wouldn't want that now do we?

Not yet. I'll pick it from the Mercedes-Benz plant in Bremen at the end of March. But on the way home to Munich I'll make a quick stop in Affalterbach for some mods

I've only heard this exhaust system about 3 months ago while it was still in development. I can't wait to hear the final version...

I'll be racing Hockenheim next tuesday with some friends. One of them has two fixed cameras in his E 55, so we should be able to make some nice videos, which I'll post in the meber section of the AMG Owners Club Multimedia Gallery (as always).

Question

Hey Ronald, those rear tires look kinda narrow for a 55. What size and brand are they?

I have no idea. It's an AMG development car and they don't have to care about the tires when developing an exhaust system. They might even be winter tires due to the weather in Affalterbach.

I have a list, but it is not completely up to date (i.e. the safety car steering wheel is missing). However, since most of the products from the Manufaktur are individual items which are being developed and manufactured on demand a list of everything that's possible would be bigger than the New York phone book.... I found a bad scan from the german Manufaktur option list (interior only). If you send me money for the shipping, I can send you the two price lists "technical modifications" and "interior modifications". 230 pages of options for all current AMG models...

Designo leather with standard Mercedes wooden trim parts is no problem at all and can be done directly at the plant in Bremen without involving AMG at all.

I noticed in AMS that the SL600 has shift buttons on the steering wheel as well, and AMG doesn't give a wood and leather steering wheel with Speedshift, so would it be possible to ahve the SL600 wheel with shift buttons and the wood?

Thanks again man!

If you are ordering this for a car to be registered in Germany then there is no problem: The AMG Manufaktur can make steering wheels from almost every material.

Mounting the SL 600 steering wheel shouldn't be a problem, but it depends on certification regulations of your country (the wooden steering wheel might just be certified for the SL 600). And don't forget that the SL 600 steering wheel has a different shape than the sport steering wheel from AMG.

The best thinig to do in such a case is to call the plant itself and ask one of the two responsible designo guys. They are very helpful and can help you when you need individual
- colours
- leather
- trim parts

Are you thinking about ordering an SL 55 right now?

I wish the dealers here new a tenth of what you know.
As usual the USA gets only what the dealer want. not what the buyer wants.
The Double dual exhaust look great.
Have any idea what tires are on that car? They look kind of skinny?

S350 price in germany

Ronald do you know how much a brand new s 350 cost in germany? a guy told it cost $35k but i think hes bs'ing me.
Not only is he bs'ing you. He is bs'ing you bigtime!!

From the german configurator website:

Grundpreis (Base price basically which has only the standards with no options added):
S350 63,800 Euro
S350 Long 69,832 Euro
S350 4Matic 67,396 Euro
S350 4Matic Long 73,428 Euro

So that's if you buy the car in germany without adding any option to it. Having said that, if you buy the car to ship outside of germany - you don't have to pay the 16% Tax included in the price but you'll have to pay your country's import tax.. anyhow, just for fun - here are the prices without the german tax:

S350 53592 Euro
S350 Long 58658 Euro
S350 4Matic 56612 Euro
S350 4Matic Long 61679 Euro

So you can tell your friend that there is no price even close to $35K and the cheapest is around $55K if not paying tax.

how would you fit it on? i tried it already and even the customizing shops here won't do it.
there is absolutely no space at the undercarriage. the spare wheel takes up most of the space.

here is the shot of my underbody. Ronald, i'd appreciate it, if you could post a shot of your underbody with the quad exhausts in place, thanks. i want to see how they fit.
