Clearing The Maintenance Service Indicator
Does anyone know how to clear this indicator on a 2006 ML 500. This is a well guarded secret at Mercedes USA, and only the dealer will clear it with a complete A or B check, a real RIP OFF. The owners Manual says to call Mercedes and when you do they will tell you that's a mistake, they really don't mean it !!!!
Thanks

try to search this forum, but from what i remember its like you push the R button on the cluster 6x then a menu will display on the cluster then you scroll through it using the steering buttons until you reach the reset menu. Im not sure if you push the R button 6x or if you hold it for more than 6seconds.

Not sure about the '06, but here's how I do it on my '08.
1) Place Key in Position 1
2) Cycle cluster screen to Odometer
3) Push R button 3 times
Service menu should appear and then you can use the directional arrows and +- keys and page up/down keys to navigate. On mine, it shows the different types of services, such as A, B, etc. You select the service and then there's a commit process to actually save it to the computer. Hope that helps

I was able to reset but....
My 2007 ML350 has 10K miles on it. I have replaced the oil myself 2 times. Now the computer says it's due for Service A in 2 days. I just changed the oil, reset the computer using the procedure posted by DUTCH. What I am seeing is slightly different than what is being posted by DUTCH. After getting more familiar with the service menu because some of the message is different, I was able to reset the computer. However it now says it is due for service C in 13,000 miles. What happens to service B? Anybody knows what is the interval for A, B and C?

added info, the star computer can program the service interval......mine was reprogrammed during predelivery inspection to 6000miles/1year given our local driving conditions and low mileage usage.

I have a 06 ML500 and need to reset the Maintenance Service Indicator. The post for the 07 and 08 do not appear to work on the 06. Pressing the reset button 3 times does nothing. Can anyone give me the procedure for the 06 ML500?

Replying to old thread but followed the instructions downloaded from post #5 and it worked like a charm on my 06 FYI.
