2006 CLK Grille in C55 finally here

Many thanks to MNG on the MBCanada Forum for getting the grille in short order. I think the 3 slates give it just a bit more of an aggressive look that I was after.

Thanks again Mikey!!

(Part # 209-880-01-23-9040) for those who are interested.

Personally, I like the 2005 CLK grill. Which one are you going to keep on there?

Heh D, Having fun in the new ride?

The fit and finish on the 06 is really much better. It comes right off the CLK Armani Pkg and the quality shows. I like the more aggressive look of the new one

Having a blast in the new ride - I can't stop driving it. I'm looking for excuses to go places... LOL.

Back to the grill - both the 06 and 05 CLK Grill are 10x better looking on the C55 than the C55 OEM stock grill. Oh Boy... I just re-opened the can of worms we finally got shut a couple weeks ago... HAHA

If you love the stock sound, you would hate the sound of the new Kleemann exhaust. IMO, it's an awesome, throaty and meaty sound... definitely not stock. I love the sound!!! It sounds like a true sports car with a lot of power. I'll try to post a sound clip in the near future.

Joe,

if you are going from OEM then yes you need some minor mods.

1) W209 hood latch
2) W209 Grille support

and then you must remove the chrome strip from the C55 hood

Then with either the 05 or 06 W209 grille its plug and play

North - sorry hijack your thread with my reply...

The exhaust is both louder and a bit deeper... I thought the stock exhaust was very quiet and almost nonexistent. I deleted the resonator and it still wasn't loud enough for me. Now IMO the exhaust note is PERFECT.

Thanks for the photos.
Wonder if anyone has the free time to do this remote me a painless favor
Ship me the whole pack incl. latches, emblem and instructions etc
I want the 2006 CLK grill for myC55.
Give me the price incl. DHL or eqv. courier , your bank name, account name, account number and routing code.
If you take PayPal, that's even better.

Wow!!

This is probably the first time I've seen a retrofitted center star (coupe) grill retrofitted onto a Mercedes saloon that actually looks very good!! Of course since the C55 has a special CLK type front end also helps the grill integrate well. I agree that the 3 slot grill is more sporty than the 4 slot grille!

Nice job!

North: Do you have photos of the grill support, installed or uninstalled? I have a 2005 CKL grill in my C55, but it is a little unstable at the top. Possibly I do not have the support.

the grill looks great and i'm waiting on my flat amg hood badge from mario before i start to install. i'll take pictures of the installation process and maybe make a step by step guide to installing the clk grill

Yeah.....mine was a little loose as well so I replaced the support. No change so I looked under the hood of an 06 CLK and the angle is just a liitle less (on the CLK) from the frame to the grill and allows the connectors to fit better. I am not going to worry about it as the side clips seem to be holding just fine....

I'm not going to worry about it either; it seems to be fine after driving thousands of miles at highway speed and on the track.
